We return for the 218th Westmorland County Show

An event we always look forward to in our calendar here at Vantage Toyota Morecambe is the Westmorland County Show. Parent show of the popular Country Fest that we exhibited at earlier in the year, the Westmorland County Show is now in its 218th year.

This year was even more exciting as this year the Show was graced by Royalty. Arriving by helicopter, The Prince of Wales made his very first visit to the Show this year. Around 30,900 visitors streamed through the gates for this show to experience the sights and sounds and some of the best from farming and the Lancashire area in general.

We took down some of our favourite Toyota vehicles including the robust Toyota Hilux which is always popular at country shows. We really enjoyed chatting to people from far and wide about the Toyota brand and all of our fantastic vehicles. We were particularly pleased to have so many people enquiring about hybrid technology, something that we are always keen to promote, especially with Toyota’s commitment to the advancement of greener technology’s.

Also appearing at the Westmorland County Show was the Bay Search and Rescue team. Bay search and Rescue are a charity team committed to providing all-terrain rescue in the Morecambe area. We are proud supporters of the team and have even donated a Hilux to the team. The team loved this vehicle so much that they bought another one from us. These vehicles have been fully adapted to fit the needs of the team and we love to hear regular updates from them. The team had a busy day at the show, even having to perform a rescue in their Hilux vehicles. After a man suffered cardiac arrest in a remote area of the show, the team jumped into action to help move him to a suitable place for the ambulance to get to him. They prove time and time again how important they are in keeping the Morecambe area safe, a phenomenal achievement for a charity organisation.

We hope that the rescued man makes a speedy recovery and will continue to support Bay Search and Rescue in any way we can. Sadly, this is only a one day show so as they closed the gates on the day we said a fond farewell to the grounds again. We look forward to returning next year and want to thank the organisers for putting on yet another great event for exhibitors and guests alike.
